Focus on Trees and Forests
MSDE/CPD #: 98-03-26 MSDE/CPD Credit: 2 Graduate Credit: 3 Prerequisite Notes: None Special Notes: Focus on Trees and Forests is sponsored by the Maryland DNR Forest Service, the Baltimore County Forest Conservancy District Board and the Baltimore County Public Schools Office of Science. In this 30 hour course, participants will explore the forest ecosystem within an historical context of the forests of Maryland and a technical context by examining soils, forest structure, tree and plant physiology and tree identification, the forest as habitat for wildlife, and the management of the forest and learn to use the tools of the forester. A field tour will be conducted on the final day of class. Participants will receive resource materials. Graduate Credit Requirements: Complete the requirements for the inservice credit and construct a performance assessment utilizing materials and information obtained in the course. Course Objectives:
