The Maryland DNR- Forest Service needs your help!


In order to supply trees to landowners, schools, scouts, clubs, etc. , 

the Forest Service needs your help to collect the seeds to clean up the 

Chesapeake Bay!

These seeds become the trees provided by the state's tree nursery to be

 planted each spring.

The Forest Service is currently in the process of collecting seed to be sent to the 

State Nursery to be grown into seedlings that will eventually be used for 

conservation plantings across the State. We need your help in locating 

collection sites ( in central MD) and also with the actual collection of seed. 

If you know of collection sites or are willing to collect, we need 

hundreds of pounds of the following types of seed:

Black Walnut, Northern Red Oak, White Oak, Sawtooth Oak, 

Chestnut Oak, White Ash, Sycamore, and Flowering Dogwood trees , 

ask if you can collect the fallen nuts to plant Maryland's future.

This is a perfect project for scouts, nature clubs, school projects or if you 

just want to do your part in cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay!

If you can provide at least a 5 gallon bucket's worth, or more, we
would be glad to hear from you. We will be collecting seed until October 31,
